This competition is all about creating solutions that matter and putting your skills toward real-world impact. Your challenge is to build a project, a website, an app, a tool, or anything digital that addresses one of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There are no restrictions on format or industry; participants can build an education platform, a climate tracker, a health tool, a community resource, or something nobody has built before.
This hackathon is beginner-friendly and open globally to anyone interested in tech, design, and using creativity to solve real problems. Unlike most hackathons that stop at "what can you build?", this event asks "what can you build that matters?" The goal is to find projects that make people say, "This could actually change something."
Freedom to Create Participants may use AI tools and assistants, online datasets and assets, open-source libraries, any tech stack, framework, or no-code platform, as well as tutorials and learning resources. Technical complexity is optional; a simple, well-thought-out idea can outperform a highly technical one. Judging is based primarily on SDG impact, creativity, and execution.
Requirements To qualify for judging, each submission must include: - A publicly accessible project link - A project description explaining your idea, inspiration, and SDG alignment - At least 3 screenshots of your project - A list of technologies and tools used - Source code
Additionally, a short demo video (1–5 minutes) is optional. Projects must be a digital build (website, app, or similar), clearly align with at least one UN Sustainable Development Goal, be appropriate for all audiences, and can be created by teams or solo participants. AI-generated content and existing assets/datasets are allowed.
Judging Criteria - SDG Impact & Relevance: How clearly does the project address a real problem tied to a Sustainable Development Goal? - Creativity & Originality: How unique is the concept, and does it tackle its chosen SDG in a fresh way? - Execution & Functionality: How well does the project work, considering completeness, functionality, and user experience?
