Overview The Boeing Aeromodelling Competition 2026-27, in collaboration with IIT Gandhinagar and Boeing, is a national platform for students passionate about aerodynamics, innovation, and engineering. The competition challenges participants to design, build, and operate radio-controlled fixed-wing aircraft capable of performing complex tasks such as payload delivery and precision flying. Whether you are an aeromodelling beginner or an experienced designer, this competition provides an exciting opportunity to test your skills, creativity, and engineering expertise.
IIT Gandhinagar Zonal Round: This registration and participation are exclusively for the IIT Gandhinagar Zonal Round, which represents the following states: Goa Gujarat Maharashtra Rajasthan Madhya Pradesh The competition will feature zonal rounds hosted at IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and KIIT Bhubaneswar, followed by the grand finale at IIT Delhi. Participants must submit an abstract outlining their aircraft’s design and functionality to qualify for the zonal rounds and demonstrate compliance with the required specifications.
Eligibility: Open to students from schools, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs. Inter-college teams are permitted, provided all participating institutions belong to the same zone. Students from different specializations can form a team. Each team must consist of 2–4 members, with an optional mentor. The mentor may not assist the team during the competition. All participants must possess a valid student ID and a bona fide certificate signed by their respective HoD, Dean, or Principal.
Zonal Rounds: Conducted at four institutions across
India: IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and KIIT Bhubaneswar, each representing a different zone. Teams will compete for a place in the National Finals. Participants must submit an abstract detailing their aircraft’s design, dimensions, and construction photographs to qualify for the zonal round.
National Finals: The top 3 teams from each zonal round will advance to the National Finals at IIT Delhi.
Qualifier Round: The top 30 teams will qualify for the Main Round. Each qualifying team will receive a ₹5,000 reimbursement towards material costs. Each qualifying team member will receive ₹500 per person towards accommodation in nearby hotels, guest houses, or PGs. Further details will be released soon.
Main Round: The top 3 teams will be declared zonal winners and will advance to the National Finals at IIT Delhi. Further details will be released soon.
