BYTEATHON 2026 is a 24-hour innovation and technology hackathon organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE), Kanniyakumari. BYTEATHON brings together innovators, developers, programmers, designers, engineers, creators, and problem-solvers to transform real-world challenges into practical, innovative, and scalable solutions. Participants will work in teams to analyse problem statements, design solutions, select suitable technologies, develop prototypes, and demonstrate their implementation before an expert judging panel.

Registration/Submission Fee: ₹400 per team Competition Format BYTEATHON 2026 will be conducted in two stages. Round 1 – Online Preliminary Round Round 1 is an online idea and solution submission round. Teams can choose from five curated problem statements or participate under the Open Innovation category. Participants are expected to identify the problem clearly, propose an innovative solution, explain its technical implementation, and demonstrate the feasibility and potential real-world impact of their idea. Teams must submit: 1. Presentation – 10 to 12 Slides
The presentation should cover: Team details Selected Problem Statement / Problem Statement Code Problem understanding Proposed solution How the solution works Technology stack System architecture or workflow Innovation and uniqueness Feasibility Usability Real-world use cases Scalability and potential impact Key differentiators 2. Demo / Explanation Video – 3 to 5 Minutes The video should clearly explain: Selected problem statement Proposed solution Core idea and workflow Technical approach Technology stack Code or implementation overview, where applicable Feasibility Innovation Use cases What differentiates the solution from existing approaches 3. Prototype – Optional for Round 1 A prototype, mock-up, proof of concept, repository, or demonstrable implementation may be submitted where applicable. While a complete prototype is not mandatory for Round 1, teams capable of demonstrating technical progress are encouraged to do so.

Round 1 Deadline: 2 October 2026 All submissions must be completed before the announced deadline. Submissions will undergo a multi-stage evaluation process, after which 30 teams will be shortlisted for the BYTEATHON Grand Finale. Round 2 – 24-Hour Offline Grand Finale The shortlisted teams will be invited to participate in the 24-hour offline BYTEATHON Grand Finale at Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE), Kanniyakumari.
Grand Finale Date: 15 October 2026 To maintain fairness among all finalists, teams will receive the applicable final-round problem statements/challenges as instructed by the organisers for the Grand Finale. During the 24-hour hackathon, teams will: Analyse the challenge Brainstorm and design their solution Develop the system architecture Build and integrate components Test their implementation Develop a functional prototype Prepare their final presentation Demonstrate the solution before the judging panel At the end of the hackathon, every team must present a working prototype or demonstrable implementation and explain its architecture, technology stack, design decisions, functionality, feasibility, limitations, and potential real-world impact.
