About the Opportunity: An online team competition focused on CAD design. Embark on an exciting journey with the CAD Design Challenge , an online competition hosted by the Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal, Punjab . This event is designed for creative minds eager to showcase their skills in Computer-Aided Design.
About the Event: The CAD Design Contest challenges participants to blend rigorous civil engineering drafting skills with out-of-the-box architectural creativity. This event tests the speed, precision, and spatial visualization abilities of the students. To elevate the challenge, this inaugural edition introduces a "Cyber-Arcade Aesthetic Constraint," forcing participants to break away from traditional modern or brutalist designs and integrate futuristic, high-tech visual elements into functional civil infrastructure.
Task: Participants will be given a specific structural problem statement on the spot, such as designing a public transit hub, an advanced footbridge, or an urban community center. Teams must draft a highly functional civil structure that strictly adheres to the imposed "Cyber-Arcade" / Futuristic architectural theme .
Deliverables must include: A complete 2D floor plan A detailed elevation view An isometric view, if time and software permit The task must be completed within a strict time limit of 2 hours .
Allowed Software: Standard drafting software installed in the SLIET computer labs, such as AutoCAD. If participants are permitted to bring their own laptops, they may use AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp.
Blank Slate Rule: Participants must start from a completely blank file.
No Pre-made Assets: The use of pre-made blocks, downloaded templates, or external internet resources during the competition is strictly prohibited. Standard software-native primitive shapes are allowed.
Drafting Standards: Proper layering, line weights, dimensioning, and scaling must be applied according to standard engineering drawing practices. Testing Mechanism - The
Live Draft: Teams will be seated in the designated CAD Lab/Seminar Hall. The mystery problem statement and precise dimensional requirements, such as plot size limits, will be revealed exactly at the start time. Internet access will be restricted or heavily monitored to ensure all drafting is done originally on-site. At the end of the 2-hour buzzer, all files must be immediately saved and transferred to the coordinator's drive. No extra time will be granted for rendering or saving.

Late Submission: A penalty of 5 points for every 1 minute delayed past the deadline. Submissions delayed beyond 5 minutes will not be evaluated.
Asset Violation: Any team found using downloaded blocks or pre-existing templates will face direct disqualification.
Dimension Violation: A penalty of 10 points will be applied if the structure exceeds the maximum plot size or dimensional constraints provided in the problem statement. Judging Criteria &
Marking Scheme: Submissions will be evaluated by the jury based on a 100-point scale : Technical Precision - 30
Points: Accuracy of dimensions, scaling, proper use of layers, and standard engineering annotations.
Functional Viability - 25 Points: How well the design serves its intended civil purpose, such as traffic flow, structural logic, and space utilization.
Theme Integration - 25 Points: How creatively and effectively the "Cyber-Arcade" aesthetic is applied without compromising the structure's primary function.
Completeness - 20 Points: Submission of all required views, including Plan and Elevation, within the timeframe.
Tie-Breaker: In case of a tie, the team that submitted their completed files earliest will receive the higher rank.
Rules: Participate in teams of a maximum of 2 members. Individual participation is also actively encouraged. Participants must report to the venue 15 minutes prior to the start time. Discussion with other teams is strictly prohibited and will lead to disqualification. In case of any software crash or hardware failure on a personal laptop, no extra time will be provided. Participants are advised to save their work continuously using Ctrl+S .
Note: Decisions taken by the jury and coordinators will be final and binding. The problem statement and specific dimension limits will only be revealed at the venue.
