Overview TechFEST'26 is the annual technical festival of Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal, Punjab - a deemed-to-be university under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Established in 1989, accredited with Grade A by NAAC, SLIET spreads across a lush 451-acre campus with 11 departments and more than 5,000 students. With a legacy of over 28 years, techFEST'26 - themed 'Technology and Sciences for Sustainable Earth' - features 50+ events across 11 clubs and a total prize pool of Rs 5,00,000+, along with workshops, exhibitions, guest lectures and a grand cultural evening.
About the Event: CASE CRACK is an interactive business and marketing challenge designed to test participants' knowledge, analytical thinking, and decision-making abilities. The event combines a business and marketing quiz with an interactive company downfall case challenge, where participants will first demonstrate their conceptual knowledge and then apply it to a real-world business situation. Problem Statement Businesses can face failure due to ineffective marketing strategies, poor decision-making, changing consumer preferences, intense competition, or failure to adapt to market conditions. Through CASE CRACK, participants will be challenged to first demonstrate their understanding of business and marketing concepts and then analyse a company's downfall using a series of clues. They must identify what went wrong, why it happened, and what could have been done differently.
Number of Rounds: 2 Round 1 – Business & Marketing Quiz Teams will participate in a quiz covering topics such as: Marketing fundamentals Branding and advertising Consumer behaviour Business strategies Entrepreneurship Famous brands and companies Business awareness The quiz will test participants' knowledge, speed, and accuracy. The highest-scoring teams will qualify for the second round. Round 2 – CASE CRACK The shortlisted teams will be provided with a company downfall case along with relevant clues and information. During the round, questions will be revealed at the moment through a question sheet. Teams will receive the questions only when instructed by the coordinators and will be given a fixed time to analyse and answer them. The questions may focus on: Identifying the reason behind the company's downfall Marketing and strategic mistakes Competitor and market factors Consumer-related issues Alternative strategies or solutions Questions may carry different weightages based on their difficulty and analytical requirements. Teams will be evaluated on the accuracy, reasoning, and practicality of their answers, along with their ability to analyse the case within the given time.
Judging Criteria: Teams will be judged on: Quiz Accuracy & Speed Case Analysis Business & Marketing Understanding Logical Reasoning Strategic Decision-Making Accuracy of Solutions
Rules and Regulations: Each team will consist of 2–3 participants. Round 1 will be a business and marketing quiz. Only shortlisted teams will proceed to Round 2. Teams must answer within the specified time limit. Use of mobile phones, internet, or external assistance will not be permitted unless explicitly allowed by the organisers. Teams must not communicate with other participating teams during the rounds. Any form of cheating, misconduct, or unfair means will result in disqualification. The decision of the judging panel will be final and binding.

Eligibility: The event is open to students pursuing Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate programs. Participants from any branch or discipline are eligible to participate. Participation will be team-based, with 2–3 members per team. Participants must carry a valid college/institute ID during the event. All team members must be registered for the event before the specified registration deadline.
