Codegeist is Atlassian’s annual hackathon where developers from around the world unleash creativity on Forge, Atlassian’s serverless app development platform. By extending Atlassian products with custom apps and integrations, participants reimagine how teams plan, track, and deliver work.
The central challenge focuses on the power of context. While AI can think, knowing what to do requires deep organizational context. Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph connects goals, work, people, decisions, and outcomes like associative memory for your organization, giving teams shared understanding of who’s doing what, what’s already been decided, and what needs to happen next. Participants are invited to build an app on Atlassian’s Forge platform that uses this context to help teams ship with confidence—whether by surfacing the right knowledge at the right moment, connecting work across silos, or turning organizational data into a decision that moves work forward.
Requirements & Categories Participants must build an app using Atlassian’s Forge platform that integrates with at least one Atlassian product or platform capability (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Bitbucket, Teamwork Graph, or Rovo). Apps must fall into one of the following categories: * Apps for Software Teams: Give dev teams the context to ship with confidence through smarter code reviews, deployment awareness, or issue triage. * Apps for Business Teams: Help colleagues in marketing, sales, HR, finance, support, or legal move faster with the right information. * Apps for Specialized Industries: Turn insider knowledge in fields like healthcare, finance, manufacturing, or automotive into solutions built for those worlds.
