DivHacks is Columbia University's premier student-led annual diversity hackathon, founded in 2017 and run by Women in Computer Science. The event focuses on building smarter solutions for the communities we live in, specifically addressing themes of food, housing, and transportation.
Over the past eight years, DivHacks has welcomed attendees from all over the tri-state area. The organizers strive to create an empowering and inspirational space for students who are historically underrepresented in the tech industry. Their goal is to provide an experience that reimagines what diversity should look like in the tech industry while giving students the tools to use technology to implement change.
Participants can explore four distinct tracks: * All Aboard: Focused on getting around the city better, covering anything related to how people and things move through NYC. * The Grind: Optimizing the grind of daily NYC life, covering everything besides transportation to help one person's day run smoother. * NYC, Block by Block: Helping people feel more connected to their neighborhood and local culture. * Data: Making urban systems approachable by turning messy urban data into something visual and actionable.
