Coordinator: Mr. Deepak Kumar Prajapati Event Description Get ready to take flight at the Senior Drone Race, a high-energy technical challenge at TechTrix'26! Participants design, build, and pilot a custom drone through a timed obstacle course, demonstrating speed, maneuverability, precision, and responsible flight control. The course will be revealed at the venue, testing participants' ability to adapt on the spot. The objective is to complete the course successfully while achieving the best possible adjusted time. Guidelines Team & Drone Requirements
Team Size: 2 participants per team Maximum
Frame Size: 450 mm (motor to motor , diagonally)
Maximum Weight: approximately 1.5 kg, including battery of upto 6s FPV cameras and headset goggles/displays are optional (recommended, but not mandatory) Each team may register and use up to 2 drone models, verified by the Inspection/Verifying Committee; a model can be swapped before the race starts or between qualification/elimination rounds A damaged or lost drone may be replaced with a further model for checking, before the official start time Pre-Competition Safety & Inspection All drones must be successfully test-flown prior to the event to qualify for flying in front of other participants and officials Every drone undergoes an airworthiness inspection covering materials, workmanship, and radio installation Pilots must demonstrate correct arming/disarming and failsafe behaviour (loss of radio link) with propellers off A drone judged unsafe or not airworthy — in materials, workmanship, radio function, design, or due to visible damage — will not be allowed to fly Flight Rules The arena and flight course will be revealed at the venue Freestyle flight must not exceed 50 ft in height Minimum distance from the flight line to any human-occupied area is 6 ft (7 ft or more recommended), unless the course is netted Drones may only be powered up in the designated Start/Finish area — never in the pits or while walking to the course Pilots must fly only from the designated Pilot Area and land only in the designated landing area No participant may enter the flight area while a drone is airborne; intentional interference with another pilot or drone is prohibited Spotters/teammates may stand with the pilot in the allocated area for communication during the flight Damaged propellers, loose batteries, or unsafe wiring must be corrected before flight; officials may stop a flight immediately if it becomes unsafe All instructions from judges, coordinators, and the organizing host must be followed at all times Judging Criteria Ranking is based on total course time — raw flight time plus accumulated penalties:
Venue
I.T.S Engineering College, Gautam Buddha Nagar
Greater Noida, India
Obstacle touches: +2 seconds per touch (bumping, scraping, or touching an obstacle/gate/hurdle)
Strategic skips: +20 seconds per skipped obstacle (maximum 2 skips allowed per run)
Hand touches: +15 seconds per reset (maximum 3 per run — a 4th results in an immediate DNF for that round) Disqualification The following will result in disqualification: Exceeding the published frame size or weight limit A drone failing the airworthiness/pre-flight inspection Attempting a 4th hand touch in a single run (results in DNF for that round) Powering up outside the designated Start/Finish area, or flying/landing outside designated zones Intentional interference with another pilot's equipment or flight Poor social conduct, misbehaviour, foul or abusive language, unsportsmanlike conduct, harassment, or intentional/reckless damage to campus property or the arena Failing to follow a safety official's order The judge's decision is final and binding in all aspects — performance, time penalties, safety-related disqualifications, and overall scoring.
