Fugacity: Pitch an Idea

Great ideas can change industries, but only a handful of people can pitch them effectively. So if you think you’re one of those, then this event might just be the perfect stage for you to show your skills! Here’s the catch: we release the problem statement 5 days before the event. You have exactly 120 hours to research, design, structure your calculations, and prepare a presentation. Then, you get exactly 3 minutes to pitch your concept to our panel of demanding professors. And with each ticking second, you lose points. If you survive the clock, you must face a rigorous Q&A session to defend your strategy. Important Dates: Registration: July 15, 2026 PS Release: 00:00, August 25, 2026 Final Submission: 23:59, August 29, 2026 Event: August 30, 2026 Event Format Mode: Offline Duration: 3-minute pitch + 5-minute Q&A per team. Venue: Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. Guidelines Eligibility: Open to all undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) science, engineering, and management students from any recognized college or university across India. Team Configuration: Individual participation or teams of up to 3 members. Inter-departmental and inter-college teams are permitted. Submission Deadline: Final pitch decks must be submitted in PDF format via the registration portal exactly 24 hours prior to the event day. No on-the-spot files or late revisions will be accepted. Rules The 3-minute presentation timer is non-negotiable. Exceeding the time limit will lead to a compounding point deduction. The concept presented must be the original work of the team. Plagiarism, fabricating numerical data, or copying existing published campus case solutions will lead to instant elimination. All literature values and references must be cited at the bottom of the slide in which they are used. Usage of AI is restricted only to images, when properly stated. The presence of any other AI-generated content in the deck will lead to disqualification. The evaluations and final rankings decided by the faculty jury and the Fugacity 2026 organizing committee are absolute and binding.
