Girls Hoo Hack is an in-person 48-hour hackathon hosted by Girls Who Code at UVA, taking place on October 25-26, 2025. As part of the national nonprofit's largest College Loops in the country, this event aims to foster a community of diverse thought and skill while closing the gender gap in tech.
Coders of all levels of experience are invited to participate. Attendees have the opportunity to work together with teams and mentors, attend educational workshops, and code action-oriented projects that reflect innovation, diverse perspectives, and empowerment. The event welcomes participants from all different skill levels, with over 230 registrations expected.
Girls Who Code at the University of Virginia is an empowering and inclusive team dedicated to supporting women and allies in computing through community, education, and empowerment. Together, they are breaking down barriers in the tech industry due to resource inequality, race, and gender biases. Come for the coding, stay for the community!
