About the Event: We cordially invite you to Grid Masters-SLD Challenge, organised as part of techFEST'26 - Annual Technical Festival of SLIET. Showcase your talent, compete with the sharpest minds and earn your moment of glory. Teams will design, debug, and interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for power distribution systems. The challenge tests participants' understanding of real power systems, protection, safety, and practical SLD design—not just circuit-building skills.
Number of Rounds: 2 Round 1 — SLD
Fault Finding: Participants will be provided with a Single Line Diagram (SLD) of a power system containing intentional faults/errors. They will be required to identify and locate the faults in the given SLD. Participants who achieve the required qualifying score will advance to Round 2. Round 2 — Power
System Design: Qualified participants will be given a real-world power system design problem. They will be required to design an appropriate electrical circuit/system based on the given requirements. The problem may involve designing a transmission/distribution pole, substation layout, power system circuit, protection scheme, or other electrical power-system components.
Technical Accuracy: Correct identification of faults and correctness of the proposed SLD.
Protection & Safety: Proper placement and selection of protection devices, earthing, and safety considerations.
System Design: Appropriate bus arrangement, redundancy, and power-distribution planning.
Time Management: Ability to complete the assigned challenge within the given time.
Clarity & Presentation: Neatness, proper symbols, logical arrangement, and ability to explain the design.

General Rules: All participants must carry a valid college ID card and their techFEST'26 registration receipt. Reporting time will be communicated to registered teams; late reporting may lead to walkover. The decision of the judges and organisers will be final and binding in all matters. Any form of misconduct, plagiarism or use of unfair means leads to immediate disqualification. Participants are responsible for their own equipment and personal belongings. Organisers reserve the right to modify any rule at any time; updates are announced at the venue.

Code of Conduct: Maintain discipline and decorum across the campus and all event venues. Indiscipline or misbehaviour with volunteers, organisers or fellow participants leads to disqualification. Consumption of alcohol, tobacco or any intoxicants is strictly prohibited on campus. Participants must not damage institute property; recovery costs may be charged. Organisers reserve the right to remove any participant violating the code of conduct.
