This isn't your ordinary gig. It's a 24-hour competition where you collaborate to solve problems using technology. Whether you're a seasoned investigator or a new recruit, you’ll form squads, build your project from scratch - like websites, apps, or hardware, and bring your solution to light. Teams of 2-4 students will work together to code or build a project and present it to the judges. This project can be or do anything; there are no constraints on what teams are allowed to develop, as long as the project fits the team’s chosen track. The judges will then select the best overall. Every project must be fully completed at the hackathon - no outside work/help is permitted.
A track is designed to help focus your ideas into one specific subject area. You can think of it like a category. Some examples of tracks include social impact, financial technology, or data science. No worries! We will have a session early in the day where you can connect with other participants who are looking to fill out or form a team. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your already existing team or connect with others you haven't worked with before.
Hack_NCState 2027 will run through the weekend of February 6th and 7th. You begin coding at 11 AM on Saturday and have until 11 AM on Sunday to submit your project. Hack_NCState is held in Talley Student Union in the heart of North Carolina State University’s Main Campus. Hack_NCState is open to all university students. You don't need to be an NC State student to participate!
Hack_NCState is 100% free for all to attend! Enjoy complimentary food, a standard-issue t-shirt, stickers, and other activities while you're on the case. As a participant you’ll receive a free t-shirt, stickers, food, alongside the opportunity to participate in fun workshops and activities. However this does mean we are unable to provide any kind of travel reimbursements.
