hackPHS2026 is Princeton High School's seventh annual hackathon, themed "into the skies," taking place on October 10–11, 2026. This student-organized event brings together over 100 high school students from across New Jersey for a 24-hour period of building, learning, meeting new people, and creating something awesome.
The event is open to all high school students, regardless of experience level. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced hacker, there is something for everyone. Participants do not need a perfect idea or years of experience; they simply need to bring a laptop, some curiosity, and a willingness to try something new. Teams of up to four people are encouraged but not mandatory, with team-building workshops available at the start of the event for those without a group.
hackPHS is built around the principles of open source, encouraging hackers to publish their code, use open-source tools, and share what they learn. The schedule features a mix of hacking time, guest talks, and introductory workshops covering topics such as JavaScript, Python, data analytics, neural networks, web design, AI/ML, prompt engineering, Java, and AI ethics. Additional activities include karaoke, chess tournaments, movie nights, and programming contests.
Participation is free ($0), and the event provides free food and drinks (including options for common dietary restrictions), designated quiet sleeping areas, and electrical outlets for charging devices. While the focus is on learning and collaboration, there will be prizes awarded for some of the best hacks made during the event. All participants must follow Major League Hacking's Code of Conduct and Princeton High School rules.
