Event Description: The Junior Makethon challenges school students to use their engineering creativity and resourcefulness to address the problem of modern-day waste generation. Using only scrap materials provided by the organizers, teams must transform waste into something useful or innovative — belonging to any category (civil, mechanical, electrical, artistic, or otherwise) — through upcycling.
Eligibility & Team Composition: Valid School ID is mandatory. Both team members must work collaboratively to build the item within the given time.
Material Usage & Constraints: Only scrap materials provided by the organizers may be used and must be repurposed into the final creation; permitted materials and tools will be announced at the venue. Decorative or custom-made materials brought solely for aesthetic enhancement (paints, stickers, or any external items) are strictly prohibited.
Tools & Equipment: Participants must bring their own basic construction tools (adhesives, tapes, scissors, and cutting tools). Limited light workshop tools and safety equipment may be available at the venue, but teams should not rely on this. Any provided workshop tool must be used with appropriate safety equipment and only under the direct supervision of an event coordinator.
Suggested working duration: 90 minutes; the final duration will be confirmed and announced before the round begins. Work begins only after the official start signal and must stop immediately once time expires.
Presentation: After time is up, teams must present their creation to the judges, explaining:
Purpose: What the item is and how it can be used.
Concept: The idea and thought process behind its design.
Usefulness: Its practical application and utility.
Rules: No participant may receive assistance from anyone outside their registered team. Teams are expected to develop their own solutions; plagiarism or use of unauthorized external work may lead to disqualification.

Disqualification: A team may be disqualified for: Using materials other than the organizer-provided scrap (e.g., aesthetic add-ons). Continuing work after the time limit expires. Receiving outside assistance during the build. Plagiarism or use of unauthorized pre-existing work. Poor social conduct, misbehaviour, unsportsmanlike conduct, or failure to follow safety guidelines. Failure to follow general tool-safety protocols while using workshop tools. The judge's decision regarding final scores and any rule violations is final and binding.
