Nirmiti CADathon

Guidelines NIRMITI is a CADathon focused on design precision, spatial visualisation and modelling speed. Participants will be provided with increasingly complex 2D engineering drawings and will be required to accurately translate them into 3D CAD models. The competition consists of two consecutive rounds, with the complexity of the parts increasing in the second round. Participants will be provided with detailed 2D drafting sheets containing all necessary dimensions and the specific material density required for the CAD model. The objective is to model the given part as accurately and quickly as possible and calculate the exact total mass of the final model based on the provided material density. Eligibility and Participation The competition is conducted as an individual competition. Participants are required to compete individually; team participation is not applicable. The competition is open to participants meeting the registration requirements specified by the organisers. Time: 33 points maximum The scoring in both rounds follows a 70% Accuracy and 30% Time weightage. Accuracy Evaluation Accuracy will be determined based on the percentage error between the final weight of the participant's CAD model and the expected weight of the master model. Error % = |(Expected Weight − Participant Model Weight) / Expected Weight| × 100 The accuracy score will then be calculated using: Accuracy Score = Maximum Accuracy Points × [1 − (Error % / 5%)] If the weight error exceeds 5%, the participant will receive zero accuracy points for that round. A perfect match with the expected weight will receive the maximum accuracy score. Time Evaluation Time Score = Maximum Time Points × [(Total Time Allotted − Time Taken) / Total Time Allotted] A time score will only be awarded when the participant's weight error is less than 3%. The final score for each round will be: Round Score = Accuracy Score + Time Score Equipment and Software Participants must bring their own laptop and computer mouse. Participants are responsible for ensuring that their devices are fully charged. Charging points will be available at the venue. Participants are free to use any CAD software of their choice, including but not limited to Fusion 360, SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, Inventor and Siemens NX. The required CAD software must be pre-installed and functioning properly before the competition begins. Participants must use licensed or officially available student versions of the software. Submission Process An official will record the time taken by each participant from the start of the round until submission. Participants must enter their final model weight through the designated submission platform. Entering and submitting the final weight will stop the participant's clock. After submitting the weight, participants will have a 5-minute grace period to upload their CAD files for verification. Both the native CAD file and a standard .STEP file must be submitted. Once the final weight has been submitted, the answer is locked and cannot be edited or resubmitted. Participants are advised to save their work frequently throughout the competition. Rules Participants must report 30 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the event. Participants must bring their own laptop and computer mouse. Only properly licensed or officially available student versions of CAD software may be used. Pirated or unlicensed software is strictly prohibited. Use of AI generation tools during the competition is strictly prohibited. External internet searches for tutorials, models or other assistance are prohibited. Use of pre-made templates or models is prohibited. Participants must remain connected to the designated Wi-Fi to access the NIRMITI submission portal. Participants may not navigate away from the submission portal to browse the internet, access cloud drives or use messaging applications. Collaboration with other participants is strictly prohibited. Screen monitoring and physical invigilation will be carried out during the competition. Any participant found using unauthorised websites, AI tools or collaborating with others will be immediately disqualified. Use of pirated or unlicensed software will result in immediate disqualification and reporting to the relevant authorities. The final weight submitted by a participant cannot be changed after submission. No revisions or resubmissions will be permitted after the final weight has been entered. Failure of a laptop, software crash or similar technical issue will not be accepted as a valid reason for missing the submission deadline. Participants are responsible for saving their work regularly. The decision of the judges will be final and binding. The organisers may modify the rules
