Sheridan Datathon is a student-led community that unites post-secondary learners across Ontario to explore the world of data science and analytics. It provides a welcoming space where beginners and advanced students alike can learn through workshops, hands-on challenges, and collaborative projects. Beyond coding, the goal is to spark curiosity, build confidence, and connect students with peers who share a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
The event is a weekend-long gathering where students tackle data-driven challenges, join beginner-friendly workshops, and showcase their ideas. The event kicks off on Saturday, November 7th at 10:00 AM and concludes on Sunday, November 8th at 3:00 PM, featuring a focused 24-hour hacking window in the middle.
How it works: - Sign up: Participants can register solo or as a team (teams are up to five people). Those coming alone will be helped to find teammates before hacking starts. No prior experience is needed, and attendance is free. - Kickoff: Doors open at 9:00 AM on Saturday for check-in and breakfast. The opening ceremony at 10:00 AM introduces the challenges. - Hack: The 24-hour building window opens at 12:00 PM Saturday. Workshops run throughout the afternoon and evening, mentors are available, and meals are covered. - Demo: Submissions close at noon on Sunday. Teams demo their work to judges and peers from 12:30 PM, followed by a closing ceremony at 3:00 PM where podium and category awards are handed out.
Over $10,000 is on the table in prizes, with the exact amount dependent on the sponsor lineup.
