Welcome to STEMist Hacks IV where you can create projects to win prizes. Throughout the hackathon, you will also have the opportunity to learn and meet others at our various workshops. We welcome hackers of all levels. This hackathon is open to all high school and middle school students. Solo and teams up to 4 are allowed. We encourage participants to make anything STEM related, whether that's code, CAD, or hardware. Projects must be created within the hackathon time frame. Cross submissions are allowed for hackathons provided they both satisfy event rules, and are created within hackathon work hours. For Middle Schoolers under the age of 13, have a parent sign up for the account and register for the hackathon and submit on your behalf.
Projects are encouraged to follow one or more of the categories, but are not required to do so. Projects not following a specific category are not eligible to win those prizes, and are only eligible for best overall prizes. Our Tracks include Best Overall, Best Use of Render, Best Vision & Hardware Hack, Best Simulated Circuit Hack, Best AI/LLM Hack, and Best Security Hack.
The hackathon runs from July 31st to August 2nd (all times in Pacific). Submissions open July 31st at 7:00 PM and close August 2nd at 3:30 PM. There is a judging period from 4-7:30 PM on August 2nd, followed by a Closing Ceremony at 8:00-9:00 PM. As part of our event, participants will also have access to qualified mentors from the industry for any support needed while working on projects over the course of the weekend. Workshops include Build Your Tiny GPT, From Video Games to AI Agents, and Design for speed, reliability, edge cases, and cloud-cost efficiency.
Build anything "tech-related" to win prizes. This can include Machine Learning, AR/VR software, Computer Science Programs, Games, Websites, Apps, Mini-Computers, Hardware systems, and a lot more! Please submit a 3-5 minute video summarizing AND demonstrating your project, as well as any code necessary (ex: Github Repository).
Prizes include cash and subscriptions. 1st Place Overall Sponsored by T-Mobile receives $1000 Cash plus various subscriptions like NordVPN, Scrimba, and AoPS Giftcards. 2nd Place Overall receives $500 Cash. 3rd Place Overall receives $250 Cash. Specific track prizes include Best use of Render, Best AI Hack (Tavily credits + cash), Best Vision & Hardware Hack (including OpenMV Cam boards), Best Simulated Use of Circuit, and Best Security or Privacy Hack (TryHackMe Premium + cash). All Participants receive value totaling $363 per person including Master Ji + DinJan AI Labs Access, Wolfram|One, n8n Cloud Pro, Tavily, Render Building Credits, .xyz domains, and Interview Cake License.
Judging criteria include Originality, Effort, Impact, and Project Condition.
