TigerHacks is Mizzou's biggest hackathon: a welcoming weekend where students of every skill level gather to build, learn, and ship something new. Participants grab their friends, pitch a tent on campus, and spend the weekend bringing their ideas to life.
Theme: This year's theme is Health. Hackers are encouraged to build tools, apps, or experiences that help people live healthier lives.
Event Details: - Duration: 36 hours of hacking. - Attendance: 300+ hackers expected. - Prizes: $10k+ in prizes. - Cost: Registration is completely free; meals, snacks, and swag are provided all weekend long.
Who Can Participate: Any current student, from any school, at any skill level! Whether you have never written a line of code or you hack every weekend, there is a place for you here. Beginners are half of who the event is built for, with workshops running all weekend and mentors available to help.
Team Formation: You can register with a team of up to 4, or come solo. A team-formation mixer will be hosted at the start of the event to help solo participants find teammates.
Tracks & Categories: Every team submits under one of three categories: 1. Newcomer: Judged separately so first-timers can shine. 2. Open: For those bringing skills to build something ambitious, judged on technical depth and polish. 3. Game: Celebrates the best game, big or small.
Judging Criteria: All projects are scored against four categories regardless of track: - Technical Execution: Code quality, appropriate use of technologies, complexity, demo functionality, bugs, ease of use, and interaction intuitiveness. - Innovation: Uniqueness of the idea and fresh perspectives on medical problems. - Impact: Relevance to meaningful healthcare, medical, or wellness problems. - Presentation: Quality of how the project is presented.
