TRUSS LOAD CHALLENGE – EVENT OVERVIEW Welcome to the Truss Load Challenge Truss Load Challenge is a hands-on structural engineering competition designed to test participants' understanding of load distribution, structural stability, strength, efficiency and material utilization. Participants have to design and construct a 3D truss model using the permitted materials within the specified dimensional limits. The completed truss will be placed on a standardized testing setup and subjected to gradually increasing loads until structural failure or the maximum permissible load is reached.

Participants may use: Ice-cream / wooden sticks – primary structural material Wooden/bamboo sticks of similar lightweight type – if permitted by the organizing team Adhesive/wood glue/Fevicol for joints Basic cutting and measuring tools for fabrication
Not permitted: Metal rods/wires as structural members Steel/aluminium sections Plastic structural members Pre-fabricated truss components Any material specifically prohibited by the organizers ️ Load Testing The truss will be tested on a standardized support and loading arrangement. Load will be increased progressively using known gym-weight plates, and the maximum successfully sustained load will be recorded. Challenge The winner will be determined based on the maximum load-carrying capacity and/or design efficiency, according to the official marking scheme. Open to Diploma and Degree students.
